JUMPING MOUSE

by Columpa C. Bobb & Marion deVries

Suitable for Grades K-6

In this adaptation of a traditional Native American legend, young Curious Mouse and her best friend Companion Mouse set off to follow their dreams on a brave adventure to the Sacred Mountains.  Along the way, they meet a host of lively characters, and discover the true meaning of courage and friendship.  Jumping Mouse was nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore Award for Theatre for Young Audiences Outstanding Production in 1998.

"Students enjoyed the humour, costumes and cultural connections."
- Sakatcheway Anichinabe School, Grassy Narrows

"A great jumping-off point or celebration of storytelling."

SEESAW

by Dennis Foon

Suitable for Grades 7-12

Meet four ordinary kids coping with the ups and downs of their lives; Paige a popular yet insecure girl, Adam the tough bully who is also a budding artist, shy Josh who learns magic tricks in order to become invisible, and Charla the new girl who wants to be everybody's friend. This production helps students examine the influences youth get from pop culture (violence, body image, materialism, etc.) and how these affect the way they interact with schoolmates and their parents. It's about self esteem, fitting in, and "doing the right thing".

"[The show] spoke to looking beyond a bully's behaviour to what is hurting inside."

"Well acted and produced.  Quite enjoyable by students and staff alike."
