Theatre in Education Animateur - July 31st, 2014 DEADLINE TO APPLY

Magnus Theatre is currently seeking to fill the full time position of Theatre in Education Animateur, to start on August 18, 2014. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Magnus Theatre operates from a relatively newly built theatre facility located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, a city of 109,000 with an independent Northwest spirit. The city, situated on the northern shores of Lake Superior, is surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in Canada and has numerous year round recreation activities. The 2014 /2015 season marks Magnus Theatre's 43rd Anniversary Season. The theatre has being operating since 1972 and from its new home since September 2001.

Magnus Theatre's four core areas of activity include a six-play mainstage season, Theatre in Education programming that includes a TYA tour of the region, occasional adult regional tour, and new play development activities. Reporting to the Artistic Director, the main areas of responsibility include: teaching theatre school classes; preparing study guides for the mainstage as well as TYA plays; conducting workshops; developing out-reach programs within the community and the region; developing and implementing strategies that will contribute to the vitality of the program; and carrying out administrative duties relating to the program.

The successful candidate will be a highly organized, talented, and outgoing individual with arts education experience, a solid knowledge of the professional theatre environment, and a passion for working with young people.
